Vacation State of Mind

Sunday, February 20th, 2011

I’ve been in a vacation state of mind lately… and on an actual vacation for a few of those weeks!  I’ll get my posts flowing again soon, promise! In the meantime, come with me to vacation~land… No beach vacation would be complete without some hearts in nature!!

Magical Maine Winter

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

When telling people that I was moving to Maine (from New Jersey), just about every single person’s reply was something along the lines of, “The winters are cooooold!” or “Good luck surviving those dark, frigid winters!”   So far, I am not only surviving the Maine winter, but I’m loving it! Albiet, it’s only January.  Still, [...]

“We prefer your extinction to the loss of our job.”

Saturday, January 15th, 2011

I was just perusing some of my favorite Calvin and Hobbes cartoons (which is BY FAR my favorite cartoon), and stumbled upon this one. Think about THAT for a minute (or ten). (click the picture to view the cartoon larger). Thanks to the Progressive Boink blog for bringing this one to my attention.

A Holiday Gift and A New Year’s Reflection

Friday, January 7th, 2011

We spent the holidays in New Jersey with my family this year. My brother Steven was home from San Francisco, and my brother Bob and his fiance Justine spent a lot of time at my parents’ house, too. With all six of us together, and lots of other visiting family and friends, paired with the [...]

Hearing Update

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

As many of you know, I have late-onset progressive bilateral sensori-neural hearing loss that began around my 21st birthday. I discuss my hearing loss more in my previous post A Chance Encounter and a Glimmer of Hope (not to burst your bubble by ruining the ending before you even begin reading, but the Wobenzym didn’t [...]

All in a Year

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

My baby turned 1 year old just under a week ago. Oh, how time flies. Elizabeth Stone really wasn’t kidding when she said, “Making the decision to have a child – it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.” I can’t even begin to express how wonderful [...]

Snow!

Monday, December 27th, 2010

Since moving to Maine in June of this year, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the weather, despite warnings that the Maine winters are frigid and long.  We’ve had three or four good snows so far this year, and Maddie and I have had a great time playing in them.  I love winter adventuring and having a new [...]

Tomorrow is a New Day

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

Two thoughts to end the day: Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with [...]

Start the Draft. Simplify. Post, for crying out loud!

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

In the first days of November, I read a great blog post by my friend Leslie on mindfulness and how it relates to everyday life, specifically with not losing things and with getting those little bloggie ideas actually written down and posted on her blog! When I read it, especially the part where she wonders [...]

Mommy Gear to the Rescue!

Saturday, November 13th, 2010

I’m not a big dress wearer, but for something like a wedding, I want to look good (but not as good as the bride, of course!). Recently (okay… it was a few months ago), I got myself into a bind by thinking it would be easy to find a nice nursing dress to wear to [...]
