Yoga
One of my passions in life is yoga and sharing it with others! I teach in a variety of locations, and hope to teach more in the future. I am always working to set up yoga sessions in my local town of Monroe, Maine, or perhaps the neighboring Brooks. I also teach Ashtanga two nights a week at Central Street Yoga in Bangor. Come back often to see if/where/when I’ll be teaching more!
Here’s my current teaching schedule:
Tuesday 5:30pm – Ashtanga - Central Street Yoga, 9 Central Street, Bangor, Maine
Thursday 6pm – All-Levels Vinyasa Flow - Newforest Institute, 66 Monroe Hwy., Brooks, Maine
Friday 5:30pm – Ashtanga – Central Street Yoga, 9 Central Street, Bangor, Maine

All Levels Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Kitty Wilkin

Want to find greater focus & balance in life? Join us for yoga at Newforest! All levels welcome – beginners & experienced students alike will be challenged. We will explore the breath & a variety of poses, all in a relaxed & supportive atmosphere. Modifications will be given to make poses more and less challenging. The focus of the class is to relax, breathe, have fun, & enjoy living in your body.
Dates: February 2, 9, 16, 23 and March 1
Cost: $8 – $12 sliding scale, cash or check made payable to Newforest Institute
No registration required. Arrive & pay before 6 pm.

About the Instructor: Kitty Wilkin began her study of yoga in 2006 & became a certified yoga teacher in 2008. She studied under Wendy Gross-Pinto and graduated from the Soul Sweat Teacher Training program, a 200-hour Yoga Alliance accredited program in New Jersey. Kitty attended the Yoga Journal Conference in May 2009 & April 2010 & completed a 40-hour Ashtanga Teacher Training with David Swenson & Shelley Washington at Yoga Vermont in July 2011. Her yoga passion lies in Ashtanga, which she has taught since 2009. She also loves the vinyasa flow style of yoga, linking the breath to each movement.
Why Yoga at Newforest? Newforfest Institute is a permaculture teaching & demonstration site. A key concept of permaculture is zoning which refers to effectively placing things. Zones are numbered from 0 to 5 – zone 0 (the home) hosts the most human activity & need for attention while zone 5 is forever wild. Zone 00 is the person at the very heart of any design and refers to meeting one’s own physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Yoga offers us an ideal opportunity to nourish zone 00; yoga is a physical, mental & spiritual discipline with the goal of attaining perfect spiritual insight & tranquility.
